I know the path of a singer can sometimes feel like a slog.
You’re so passionate about the music and you connect to the art form, but you have this nagging feeling like there’s more potential in your voice then you are accessing.
If you could only access it, you’d finally gain the momentum you’re seeking in your singing journey.
There’s lots of reasons you might feel this way. Perhaps you’re realizing you didn’t have such great instruction in the past and now you’ve got a lot of bad habits to undo. Perhaps you have had A LOT of good training but feel your mindset is sabotaging you. Perhaps you feel like you came to your passion for singing late and now you are playing catch up. Perhaps you have never had any real training and are now realizing what you need to do to get to the next level.
Whatever your unique challenges are, there is one thing I know for sure: YOU are brave enough, passionate enough and resourceful enough to overcome your hurdles.
All you have to do is be willing and follow through.
That last part – the follow through – that’s the most important part and where a lot of us get stuck.
This is one of my favorite quotes:
“Success doesn’t come from what we do occasionally, it comes from what we do consistently”.
I’m gonna give you some tough love now. I want you to get really honest with yourself and ask yourself this question:
Am I being consistent in working towards my singing goals?
Have I taken the steps to find a teacher that’s right for me?
Do I practice regularly?
Am I looking at my budget and prioritizing my training?
Am I involving myself in the singing and music community around me to make connections and maximize opportunities that will inspire me towards my goals?
These are the things successful singers do.
I know you want to up your game – you would not have joined my tribe if you didn’t.
So what are you waiting for?
You can and will reach the potential of your voice once you decide to give it your focus, energy, love and attention.
Start now!
What’s one thing you are not doing consistently that you can start doing to further your singing journey?
Don’t just put it on another “To do” list where it will languish for weeks (trust me, I know about those – I used to be the queen of those).
Open your calendar and schedule it into your day, then set an alert on your phone. Consistent time blocking is the number one habit that breeds success because it promotes follow through.
Be accountable to yourself, your dreams deserve it.
Now get moving!!
