MY PHILOSOPHY
I believe that a singer’s whole body (including your energetic, psychological, emotional and physical make-up) is your instrument. Therefore, I do not train voices, I train minds and bodies.
Individual voice lessons are a tremendous investment in yourself. It’s not just about dramatically improving your singing. It’s about how significantly the course of your life can change by making the decision to invest in your talent. The results of your investment put your singing dreams and aspirations within reach and in doing so, can change the course of your life.
I want that for you! I am your guide to finding your most true, efficient, powerful, healthy and beautiful voice. I want you to do what you love, and feel good doing it. I want you to have what you want and be able to make an impact sharing your talent with the world. That impact begins with you.
As your voice teacher, I will guide you to understanding and removing both the technical and psychological things getting in the way of you singing with your best sound. I will challenge you to “jump off the cliff” and risk making a bad sound in order find the good one. I will ask you to question the assumptions you have of your voice, your talent, your existing technique and I will support you in reforming your mindset around ideas that better serve your new technique. Changing thinking = changing singing. There is nothing you cannot shift with the right support and guidance. You are capable of so much more than you are currently creating!
A minimum four-month commitment is required up front to work with me. It requires at least that amount of time to start to create the lasting change that you are seeking.
The singers I work with are very diverse. My studio is made up of opera singers, pop/RnB/rock/country recording artists, Broadway performers and recreational singers. The one thing they all have in common is a yearning to sing with beauty and consistency, to have confidence in their sound, to have it feel as good as it sounds, and to eliminate the frustration, uncertainty or fear they currently feel. I work with singers who are committed to being held accountable, who show up 100% for each lesson, who are ready to break out of their comfort zone to achieve lasting results.
Your singing journey is a beautiful pursuit. I am here to support you! I acknowledge you for knowing and seeing your true potential. I look forward to working with you.

HOW IT WORKS
Studying singing with me is a holistic adventure into understanding the ways in which your individual body and psyche are working for you or against you when you sing. My work is rooted in traditional Bel Canto singing technique with elements of SLS (speech level singing), Alexander Technique body-work, Linklater voice work, yoga release flow, IBP (integrated body psychotherapy) release work and eastern mindfulness practices. Through these complimentary and varied practices which I incorporate into each voice lesson, you will become aware of the habits and tensions that are getting in the way of your most free and beautiful production of sound. Then you will be guided through a process of undoing these habits and given new, more efficient technical tools to replace them which ensures the reliability, expressivity, health and longevity of your voice. My methods and technique are not genre specific. Healthy singing is healthy singing regardless of genre.
MY EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching singers since 2004. I hold a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance from The Manhattan School of Music, and a Bachelors of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from The Oberlin Conservatory. (See my "Learn More” page for more details about how I came to do what I do.) My most important and extensive training has come from my own singing journey with a variety of teachers and in a variety of genres. Getting to the other side of my own technique confusion and figuring out my own voice over the course of many years and throughout many iterations has taught me what I am inspired to teach you.

ARE YOU FRUSTRATED WITH YOUR VOICE?
Do you ever get a moment of fear or uncertainty right before singing a certain note or phrase because you can not 100% rely on what will come out?
It’s so frustrating!
And it usually boils down to lack of consistency. But I’m going to let you in on a little secret:
The ONLY tool we really need to build consistency in our singing does not actually have to do with singing technique at all.
I feel so strongly that every singer can benefit from this tool that I’m sharing it with you in this FREE video training.
It is my gift to you for being the dedicated artists that you are!
